Lauren Sbarbaro, PT, DPT | Owner
Lauren received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from The College of New Jersey in 2000 and her Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Rutgers University (formerly The University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ) in 2004. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, receiving the school's Award for Academic Excellence.
Lauren began her career in physical therapy at JFK Medical Center in Edison, where she worked in both the inpatient and outpatient departments. Her experiences there provided her with an in-depth understanding of a variety of diagnoses, including neurological cases such as MS and stroke, and complex orthopedic cases including post-amputation. Lauren realized her passion for orthopedics and went on to work in private practice orthopedic clinics for 10 years, and managed a busy outpatient clinic in Tenafly, NJ for several years before deciding to open Foundations Physical Therapy in 2014.
Her areas of interest include rehabilitation of spinal disorders, sports injuries and vestibular dysfunction. Her emphasis is on manual therapy, and she has taken numerous courses through the Hospital for Special Surgery, NYU School of Medicine, Great Lakes Seminars and The Institute for Physical Art. She has served as a clinical instructor to students from Rutgers Medical School, The University of Scranton and Seton Hall University. Lauren's treatment philosophy is based on the notion that no problem can be cured if the root cause is not identified; therefore, she believes in treating the whole person, not just the pain.
When not treating patients, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and her two young boys. She loves the outdoors and never misses the opportunity to go out walking, hiking, biking and sometimes even riding ATVs with her boys!
